One would think with all of the happenings going on around here I would have my finger on the pulse of the calender! Things just sort of got away from me with regard to the Bridal Extravaganza. Our gorgeous couch needed to be recovered, and it wasn’t ready… so my plan for the booth had a piece missing. The furniture!
Being that we are a Lounge, which implies a space to sit and be comfortable, the booth needed to reflect our style! Vintage, classic, comfortable, and I have nothing… I needed a Hail Mary! That’s when I heard about Rhoda and Anna over at Loot Vintage Rentals.
Let me just tell ya.. Rhoda and Anna were amazing. I never had the opportunity to work with Loot before, so when I called them to see if they could lend a hand, I was ready to hear laughing on the other end of the line. I was surprised and amazed when what I heard was Rhoda’s compassion, understanding and calm resolve to help. As a matter of fact, she not only wanted to help, she even made suggestions which of their pieces would work with our vibe.
Here is a glimpse of what they inspired.
I had butterfly’s watching Michael hang the sign for the very first time.
We wanted to show a sneak peak of what the lounge would be like, and create a space where Brides-to-be could write in our Guest book. I found this very cute little desk in our spare bedroom at the house, gave it a fresh coat of paint and voila!
I have to say, the vision I had for this space was not as good as the final outcome. This is what we had on Friday night after set up was complete. I wanted to soften it a bit, so I went to Khol’s on Saturday and found a really soft gray rung to place under the couch. Sunday morning I added the floral, and candle accents and we were ready for our first show!
The beginning of our “Posh” Vibe

On one of our journeys to find the right “Posh” furniture for the lounge, Michael and I ventured to the City Wide Garage sale at the Palmer Event Center. (I must say, I am hooked. I WILL be attending those on regular occasions from now on). As I wondered from booth to booth, looking at chairs, desks, milk glass and a myriad of other accent pieces for the lounge, I hear Michael holler “B”. (He calls me that sometimes instead of the nickname I am so familiar with) My eyes shift toward him and he is standing there with an out stretched finger motioning me to come over to him. I am mesmerized by the “finger” and walk toward him without noticing my surroundings. His motioning finger turns into a pointer, and drops to showcase something very cool! Immediately after I see it I am sold. It’s the centerpeice of the Lounge. A Mid19th century Victorian Settee, covered in green satin fabric. Michael and I looked at each other, and it was game time. We wanted the couch for our space!
We began negotiations with two lovely sisters who told us the story of the couch being in their mothers house. After she passed, they decided to keep the settee and it traveled between sisters for many years. It was only in the past months that they decided to part ways with it.
Here she sits in waiting. Fabric is on it’s way to give her a fresh new “Posh” look. Now all we have to do is find a name for her. Any ideas?
